A hand-tufted carpet from a first class stateroom of R.M.S. 'Queen Mary' c-1936, by the famous firm of Templetons.
Worked in light maroon and cream & brown wool hand sown double lined boarder.
Stencils to reverse for:-
'QM A 101, 12.5' x 7.5''.
The stateroom this came from, A-101. Was a very good stateroom, near midships, and near the ships best suites (see photo of deck plan).
Lovely square shape and size, usually these are runners and are odd shapes due to the stateroom size, this one is in very good order, this would have originated from the central section of the room where the beds sat, thus its large size.
Fantastic piece of the ship herself, rare chance to own a brilliant piece of designed textile from the ship herself that you can use on a daily basis.
Some overall ware as you'd expect, no holes, the edges are a little frayed , and it could do with a deep pile clean, but is priced accordingly to accommodate this.
