'QM M42' and cabin 'M104' (Mauretania) and the size - 101½ x 92½in. (258 x 235cm).
Cunard were famous for reuse of items, also when a ship came in for a refit items would come off to be cleaned or repaired, miss the ship and wait or be reused as needed on other cunarders, so not only was this rug on one famous cunarder, but two, and both from suites.
Lovely square shape and size, usually these are runners and are odd shapes due to the stateroom size, this one is in very good order.
An identical rug can be in a famous photo of Winston Churchill within his suite on the Queen Mary.
Fantastic piece's of the ship herself, rare chance to own a brilliant piece of designed textile from the ship herself that you can use on a daily basis.
