Very rare White Star Line, RMS 'Majestic' or H.A.P.A.G's SS 'Bismarck', c-1914 1st Class suite or stateroom bureau or dressing table. Various markings which are hard to make out on the top, back and underside which look like cabin markings. 'maj' in blue pencil on to extreme top.

All three of Ballin's trio had identical furniture used within the suites and staterooms and all made by the same crafts people. See picture of a near identical example in situ onboard SS 'Leviathan' in the 1920's.

Fantasic usuable piece of a good size, not too small or too big, able to fit within the averaged sized house.

Double doors with original german silver (nickle bronze) door furniture, open to reveal three mirrors, one concealing a further cabinet, all complete with shelves with tiny fiddle rails to stop items failing out in rough seas.

The base has a desk top which pulls out from the main carcass for a writting surface or a dressing table. Under are four large draws, all with original silver bronze handles/ all with bottom loaded catches again to stop the draws flying out during rough seas. All veneered in beautiful cross matching grains in fine exotic expensive woods.

The base has a folding door to stash the passengers very own life jacket. I have only seen a handful of these from Ballin's trio, this example is the only one that I've seen with it lifejacket compartment.

Amazingly and beautifully made by hand by the skilled craftsmen of the famous Blohm & Voss of Hamburg.

A beautiful stunning piece of high edwardian furniture from one of the most famous, largest ocean liners ever built.

When I bought this piece it was in a sorry state, I have since had it professionally restired and refurbished to who it would have appeared when new, now in very, very good condition. There are knocks, dents and dings as you would eppect from a large piece of furniture used on the high seas (see pictures).

A very very rare chance to own a usuable piece from one of the most famous White Star Liners.

The piece measures:- 40" wide, 27" deep, 72" tall. The desk hieght is 29".
