White Star Line, exceptionally rare travel agents advertising show card, c-1918/20.
Displaying the mighty Olympic, full rack of lifeboats in place. To the right a list of services provided by the famous White Star Line. Under is the agents this particular card was issued to, in this case, W.W. Bell & co of Cambridge.
These cards were sent out by White Star themselves for promotion. This originally would have held a paper calendar, sadly long gone, you can see where this was stapled to just below the image of the ship. There are some water damage stains and marks, but for something 90+ years old it is in very good order.
Printed by Bemrose & Sons Ltd Derby & London.
Two bronze/brass holes at the top from which a piece of string would have been placed to hang this up in an office of a travel agents.
In 20+ years of collecting and dealing in this field I have never seen one of these before, ive never seen this unusual artists rendering of the ship before.
Would look spectacular framed.
Rare survivor, rare item.
10.5" x 15".
